Find duplicates and give count
Hi all,
I have a spreadsheet containing 2213 rows. In one column I have data which is duplicated a number of times. There is a possible 1300 names in this column. I need a way to look down the column and tell me how many times each names shows up.
I don't really want to be typing out all of the possible names if I can help it as the data is a jumbled up like so
name
dave
steve
john
dave
alan
steve
tom
mike
dave
Any ideas?
If Data is in A column
Then Try
B1 and drag down.

Quickest way is to copy the column into a new column and remove duplicates and then use a countif formula, similar to the above formula.
