    Cross Indexing Exceptions

    Hello,

I'm not familiar with how indexing works, but I'm wondering if it can find exceptions. Looking at multiple tables and pulling out what doesn't match. Here is my problem.

Currently I have a tab called "DATA" with a drop down list of users in column A. This column pulls the users tasks (ASSIGNMENT tab) and compares it to a master role with assigned tasks within that role (ROLES tab). The results in the DATA tab show what tasks the user currently has compared to what tasks their ROLE should have. This tab works great.

I was wondering if we can go one step further and create another tab called "EXCEPTIONS" that now filters on the Master Role. This would then look at all the users assigned to that role and only bring up the names of those that have more/less tasks within that role. I would think this would be a short list. Not sure how this would look but am open to suggestions?

Thank you for your time. Much appreciated

I think what you are looking for is a cascading lookup list. Check out these articles.

One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
