Need help little formula Adding 1

    Hello

I would like Total D2 to read zero when you put a number in A2 it adds + 1 to that number and puts total in D2 cell?

    Here is the file https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2W...ew?usp=sharing

    Thank for the help

    Kevin

Please attach your sample workbook here. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

    Hi Kevin,

I simply don't understand your question. You want D2 to always display zero? It now has a formula which adds 1 to the value in A2, I see that.

What do you type and where and what do you expect to happen/change?

Maybe I'm just dense before my second cup of coffee?

AND - I'm really glad that AliGW didn't understand this question either and show how dumb I am.

I you saying that I am a benchmark for dumbness, Marvin?

Like you, I need to see this for myself, but like many here, would like the OP to attach the workbook here on the forum.

    Hey AliGW,

No abuse intended. I sometimes can't understand a problem that others have an easy answer for. I've found you to be ahead of me on many answers in the past. I completely agree that the OP needs to attach a sample. You are very right about that, on this problem. You confirmed my belief he needed to do that. I also feel good that I wasn't the stupid one and you agreed with me.

Thanks for all you do (for free) on this site. I hope that good karma will bless us for all our time and effort.

    Warmly
    Marv

Ok New to this I have added an attachment under Manage Attachments: not sure how to get it into this post when I choose the Attachment icon it does nothing.

    Thanks for your patience

OK. So, if I type 4 in A2, D2 now shows 5. What is it that you want it to do that you have not yet achieved? You haven't made it at all clear in the attachment, unfortunately!

If you want cell D2 to read ZERO at all times, just type a ZERO in that cell.
That will take out the formula that adds ONE to A2.

If that isn't what you want, would you please try to explain differently what you want to DO and what you want Excel to give you.

D2 can never be 0 AND have a formula (A2+1): what are you trying to achieve ?

    OK biggiek,

See if the attached workbook does what you want. If you type a number into A2 it will count how many numbers you've typed and the sum of those numbers. I used VBA Event code to do this. I've also added a button to start over and zero both values in D.

    Event Count and Sum.xlsm
