Excel Formula or Function

Dear All,
I have a sheet containing "Dr." & "Cr.". I want to Sum up the "Dr." side & "Cr." Side separately. So for this which formula or function I should try.
Eg. Say I have "D1:D244,F1:F244,H1:H244,...........,BA1:BA244" - Dr." & "E1:E244,G1:G244,I1:I244,........,BB1:BB244 - Cr." & I want to sum up these. Which formula I should use instead of "=SUM(D1:D244,F1:F244,H1:H244,.....,BA1:BA244) for Dr." & "=SUM(E1:E244,G1:G244,I1:I244,.....,BB1:BB244) for Cr." as it gets very time consuming.
Plz. help ASAP.

You can use Sumifs function...

SUMIFS sums cells in a range that match supplied criteria. Unlike the SUMIF function, SUMIFS can apply more than one set of criteria, with more than one range. The first range is the range to be summed. The criteria is supplied in pairs (range/criteria) and only the first pair is required.
