    Dependent dropdown lists.

    Hello Guys,
I am struggling over a week to find a solution to my problem. I am trying to create a multi-dependent dropdown list(through data validation). My data contains 3 rows of names. The names are in a "relation" such that I would like to pick first name, then in the second dropdown i would like to pick only from those names that are "connected" to the first one and in the last one pick the name "connected" to the second one. So far, i was only able to create dropdowns that lists all the names, but not "connecting" in a way i want them to be.
Do you guys have any idea about how i can deal with this problem?
    Thanks in advance!test.PNG

    Re: Dependent dropdown lists.

Many contributors are not able to view .png files on this forum due to software incompatibilities with some browsers. It would be better if you attached a sample Excel workbook.

To do this, click on Go Advanced (below the Edit Window) while you are composing a reply, then scroll down to and click on Manage Attachments and the Upload window will open. Click on Browse and navigate to (and double-click) the file icon that you want to attach, then click on Upload and Close this Window to return to the Edit window. When you have finished composing your post, click on Submit Post.

    Pete

    Re: Dependent dropdown lists.

    Thanks for the reply!
Although, i don't find these links helpful. I don't have problem with creating dropdown list, but i do have problem with displaying appropriate data in the lists (see the excel file - such that in second/third dropdown i have unique values connected to the next dropdown).

EDIT: The last "Netherland" link might be the one i am looking for. Thanks!

It should work just like the "METHOD II" file from your link http://www.snb-vba.eu/VBA_Afhankelijke_validatie.html. However, i don't need to output any values upon entering data by user.

    @joris moerings
The idea is perfect, however after playing with it for a while i noticed that eg when i pick Kate Notmad->Iker Casillas in the 3rd one i get BLANK + jese(should be claudio bravo instead of blank), and the same when i pick Donald duck.

EDIT: I think it might be the problem of picking value from the 4th list, which influence the 3rd one but i am not sure

    Re: Dependent dropdown lists.

    Hi,

I can't see the problem although there's one snack. The depending fields aren't "reset" if you already made a choice. So you need to follow the correct order.
And if you start at level 1 you need to make sure the other Date validation field are clear to prevent mistakes.
