    Attendance and Registration Formulas

    Hello
I am trying to create/find a formula where I can compare two worksheets and compare if someone has attended the complete series of classes they had registered for earlier.
    For example:
    • Student A from the Registrations Worksheet signed for 4 classes. The Attendance worksheet shows he has taken 3 of the 4 so far, with 3 marked as Attended, and 1 as Not Recorded.
    • Student B from the Registrations Worksheet signed for 3 classes. The Attendance worksheet shows he has taken 3 of the 3 so far, all marked as Attended.

How can I indicate in a separate column on the Attendance worksheet or a report that Student A is still incomplete and Student B is complete? It would be nice if I could also show which classes still remained for each student.

    Appreciate your help very much.
    Thank you.

    Dear Saroya:

Welcome to the Forum, it would be of great help if you could include a sample of the Registration Worksheet so we can render the correct formulas. Please leave out any sensitive data..

    Re: Attendance and Registration Formulas

This solution employs five helper columns, which may be hidden for aesthetic purposes, assuming that four is the max number of classes in which the student will be enrolled. In the attached file column H is populated with the formula:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Columns I:L are populated with the array entered formula*:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
Column M then concatenates the helper columns using the formula:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
*Array entered formulas are activated by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer.
Note: in the attached file columns H:L are hidden

    Re: Attendance and Registration Formulas

    Hello:
I have one other condition to address in these formulas:

Considering there is a No Show Class status also how can I adjust the formula to include the No Show option as well as Not Attended and get the Incomplete response?
I have included the sample data.
    Thank you vey much!

    Re: Attendance and Registration Formulas

The formula in column M could be modified to read:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
The array entered formula* in columns N:Q could be modified to read:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
*Array entered formulas are activated by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer.
Let me know if you have any questions.

    Re: Attendance and Registration Formulas

Thank you again. The No Show option worked very well.

I am sorry bother you. It seems the new array formula is pulling in all courses. Whether attended or not. I have added comments and framed the cells with the new and former array formulas. The previous formula correctly pulled in only the ones Not Attended. Ideally we want it to pull in the ones not attended and No Shows. Appreciate your help again.

    Thank you very much.

    Re: Attendance and Registration Formulas

When I opened the file I found that the (intended) array entered formula in N2 did not have brackets, which indicates that it was not activated by pressing Ctrl, Shift and Enter simultaneously. Upon pressing F2 (to put the cell back in edit mode) and then Ctrl + Shift + Enter and copying down and across it worked as expected (see attachment).
Let me know if you have any questions.
