Conditional Formatting help - Highlighting row containing text

    Hi there,
    New to the forum,
I have created a spreadsheet which I would like to highlight rows that contain any one of a few words.
I.e in column I there is a drop down list of various names: Gordon, Rob, John, Shaun, DIY & Not Set. I would like the row to be highlighted if column I has any of the names selected.

I have been able to sort of do this with just Gordon but I have not been able to add any other names to the formula. I have also only been able to do it for 1 row. Can someone please lend me some assistance with this please.

    Thanks in advance

    Try CF rule something like

    =OR(C1="John",C1="Fred",C1="Bill",C1="Marie")

    Thanks for the quick reply!!!

That's worked but it only highlights column I, how do I get it to do the whole row.
So I would ideally like from B19 to I19 highlighted and not just I19
After that how would I duplicate this to all the other rows in the spreadsheet?

Many members are unable to see images in the *.png format due to forum compatibility issues with some browsers.

If you need to post an image post it in the *.jpg format.

Even better than posting images... post a SMALL sample file. That way we can test solutions directly in the file with the relevant data.

Re: Conditional Formatting help - Highlighting row containing text

    Ok, thanks,

So I have attached a copy of it, It is on the Dec worksheet. Column I row 19 is the one with the formula already started, I would like it to highlight the whole row, and for this to be carried over for the whole worksheet. Ie the whole left hand side - under the 3 month visit heading. And I would like it to work for any of the names ie - Gordon, John, Rob, Shaun.

    Thanks alot!
