Linking and opening jpeg files using hyperlinks/formulas

I have an spreadsheet listing around 800 assets. The first column has the asset name. I want to hyperlink these individual asset names to an individual image of the asset (with the same asset name) and these images are stored in an adjacent folder. I have been able to do this by individually inserting a hyperlink to an image for each individual name but I'd like to speed up that process and use a formula.

Unsuccessful online searches at least gave me the bones of a formula. I've tried formulas based around =HYPERLINK("C:\folder\subfolder"&A3,"$A3"&".jpg") but get a "Cannot open specified file" dialogue box. So I'm giving the location of the folder containing the images, and trying to link to the file in that folder from the asset name in the first column of my asset spreadsheet. I want to click on the hyperlinked asset name in my asset spreadsheet and have the image open.

Can anyone assist me please?
