    Query doesn't preserve layout

Using Excel Query since a few years and everything worked very well. In the design properties you can check the "Preserve Column sort/filter/layout" to be able to organize the columns the way you want but since a while now it has stopped working and now changes everything back to as it is in the query, very annoying as I have many tables that have been modified during the years. anyone know is it a bug or a new feature or something else?

    Thank you in advance
    Philip

    Re: Query doesn't preserve layout

I was going to suggest what you just said about preserving the layout. However, I have also read the question another way. Is it the sorting of the rows that is the issue, or the ordering of the columns?

I have found that if you had a simple query: Select A, B, C from Table and you modify it to Select A, D, B, C from Table that column D will come out at the end. If you change the name of a header, it will be moved to the end. You can drag the table columns wherever you want, including the position in the query. Whatever column layout you select will be what MS-Query uses until something is changed or added.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
