Im trying to get the correct formula but cant
in names sheet column a3:a5 is list of names
in dates sheet a3:a5 is the names list that have to match the names sheet when it does then it gives the dates from the dates sheet in b3:b5 but it doesnt so im at a loss any and all help appreciated.

Try this ...
=VLOOKUP(A3,Communications!$A$3:$B$5,2,0)
Format Cells -> Date
