Help to count from a table by name, month and year by type

Hello all, at work we have safety, quality and environmental conversations with each other to improve these aspects, individuals are measured by month how many we complete and log into a database.

At the moment these are counted manually, could someone please help me to make this more automated with a formula(s) that would count how many conversations each individual has by type for each month in 2017 and the totals for each type year to date and by month so that it speeds the process up as this is quite time consuming doing it manually as there are approx 80 employees to count.

I have included an example with the type of result table I would like (Totals tab).

Why not use Pivot Table?

It's meant for this type of analysis and far more efficient than formula approach.

Hi Ankur, it looks like in your file the Environmental columns are picking up the wrong month could you please check.

Lewster try changing the C$1 in Ankur's formula to B$1. The offset months threw me as well.
