countifs with critera range made from a formula

Hi,

I would like to construct a cell reference to another worksheet and use it within a countifs

The cell I am wanting to use the cell reference in is as follows

I want to replace in this example the AL9 with the following formula

The above formula results in this 'Roles Matrix L+'!$P$33
when i use the above with INDIRECT in another cell i do get the correct result but when I add it all together into the formula below I get an error

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. thanks.

This is probably a dumb question, but without a workbook, it is painful to look at, but why not replace AL19 with the formula, inside an indirection function eg indirect(AL19 fomula"

you wont believe this (or maybe you will) but I was certain i tried this on friday.....but gave it another go anyway......and of course it worked.....

Sadly I've hit another error, where the formula exceeds the maximum length....8000+ characters or something...

I've been repeating the above within one formula, 32 times and then using those counts to make a percentage.... I'll see if I can do it another way.
