Excel Formula: Calculate Improvement / Decline

    Hi,

Could really do with some help with an excel formula!! I have two columns that will contain the same 4 entries (1 - Outstanding; 2 - Good; 3 - Requires Improvement; 4 - Inadequate), what I would like to do is have a formula in the 3rd column that calculates if the following:

    a) if the 'score' is the same (eg 1 - Outstanding & 1 - Outstanding) then the 3rd column will state 'Same'
    b) if the 'score' has improved (eg 4 - Inadequate & 3 - Requires Improvement) then the 3rd column will state 'Improvement'
    c) if the score has declined (eg 2 - Good & 3 - Requires Improvement) then the 3rd column will state 'Decline'

For some reason I am unable to upload a document, so below is a mock-up of what I'm after - any help will be gratefully appreciated:

    COLUMN A COLUMN B COLUMN C
    Obs 1 Obs 2 Up/Down/Same
    1 - Outstanding 1 - Outstanding Same
    2 - Good 3 - Requires Improvement Down
    3 - Requires Improvement 2 - Good Up
    4 - Inadequate 3 - Requires Improvement Up

    Cheers
