What about selecting a cell Right Click -> Format Cells -> Protection -> and tick Hide

I do not see why that would be impossible.
Use a Sheet Specific Selection Change macro
use the macro to copy the formula in the cell into a string.
copy paste the value into the cell.
When another cell is selected or the sheet is changed or the workbook is closed
then enter the formula back into the cell.
That is the theory, I assume the practice will be harder.
