    Project status color automation required

    Hi All,

I'm looking for a excel function which will help me to do a conditional formatting to display the status of my project. Example Red, Amber , Green. I'm relatively new to excel coding. Below are my conditions for the formatting.

I have Cells AA1 , AA2, AA3 which shows count of color code for different color types. AA1 (Red), AA2(Amber), AA3(Green)
So if the AA2 is greater than or equal to 3 and less than 6 then Status of the project in cell AA4 should be "Project Amber" provided the count of AA1 (red) is less than 2 , also if AA2 is greater than 6 then too AA4 should display "Project in Red"

If AA1 >2 the project status should be "Project in Red" if none of the conditions are true then the status would be "Project Green".

I hope i have been able to explain my requirement correctly.

Status Amber only if the count of Amber Code is greater than 3 and less than 6. If Amber count is greater than 6 the Project Status has to be again "Project Red". If the count of Red is >=2 and Amber is Zero still the project status would be "Project Red". If none Red count is less than 2 and Amber count is less than 3 then "Project Green"

Looking forward to expert help from the Excel Gurus !!

    Thanks

    PP

I recently started a new job so am a bit busy and may not reply quickly. Sorry - it's not personal - I will reply eventually.
If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.

    Re: Excel Formula Help

Read post #2, which explains that you need to change your thread title. The vast majority if people who come here are looking for help with formulae, so your thread title tells us nothing useful. Please change it as instructed. Thanks.

Re: Project status color automation required

Thank you for changing the title.

I assume you mean B1,B2,B3,B4 instead of AA1,2,3,4 in your explanation above.

    So:
B4 should be 'Red' if B1 (red) is more than 2 OR if B2 (amber) is greater than 6 (I think you actually mean greater than or equal to here?).
    B4 should be 'Amber' if B2 is 3, 4 or 5.
    Otherwise B4 should be 'Green'.

This formula in B4 will do that:
