Form in excel for barcode scanning

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I need a form in excel, which will have a field where a barcode will be scanned and it will show which product it stands for.

    Details:
See the excel attached please. The document contains the table where information about products that need to be shipped is contained:
    Brand
    Code
    Description
    Grade
    ID - is a combination of brand-code-grade

Barcode - this is not a UPC or EAN, it is an SKU which stands for a package that may contain inside one of the following:
    a. 1 piece x 1 ID inside - examples U00HSS51T, U0096M9ON, U00HRH88V
    b. multiple ID x 1 pcs each inside - examples U00EMRG9Z, U00OGRMNV, U00ELMVJL
    c. one ID x multiple pcs inside - examples U00EMRE29, U00OBKIEB, U00O9BCM5
    d. multiple ID x multiple pcs inside - examples U00G8TU2Z, U00NSKVY7

Qty - how many Barcodes we need to ship
Total - Inside * Qty per product ID. In other words, total products ID shipped.
Notes - each case is specific so a note field may be required

The form that I need (probably on another sheet) will contain a field where a specific barcode will be scanned, and based on barcodes from table (column G) it will display (also in a form) information from the table related to barcode:
Product-ID(s), Grade, Brand, Code Description, inside, qty, total, notes (marked red).
Once a product is scanned, I need the indicator to stay there, for easy next barcode scan.

Please let me know if you can handle it. Thanks

Could anyone reply please and let me know your thoughts?

    1) Remove merged cells from your "input" form as they cause nothing but problems

    2) Add a sample of the "output" form you require, with sample results.

    Hi John,

Thanks again for your answer. I would remove the merged cells, however, what do I do if a barcode stands for one of the 4 combinations I mentioned above?

The answer depends on how you use the data in the "output" which is why we need to understand the business logic: referencing the merged cell is NOT going to retrieve the associated combinations if that is required.

You will (probably) require an additional field to identify a barcode with combinations.

There is a thread running in commercial services on this issue which Jerry is looking into.

Hi AliGW, thanks for letting me know. I was simply getting no answers so I decided to go ahead and normal forum, if Jerry sorts it out there, I will delete this thread.

John, please see attached the file with macro developed in commercial forum by Jerry and it looks great. So I was wondering if something like this is possible to achieve using formula? Regarding an additional field, to be honest I'm not sure how exactly you see it.

Not with merged cells which should always be avoided as they usually add no value and cause trouble.

See attached "Search_Form" and "Data" with merged cells removed from sample barcode
