Using APIs in Excel

Hey guys,

First of all, I am new to this forum so I don't know if I posted this in the right place but hey, mods can move stuff around, can't they.

So I work with license plates and cars, of which I have to input some data into a sheet. This is quite tedious obviously. Now where I live, data which I need such as make, model and engine are availible to the public in an API (opendata.rdw.nl, in Dutch). I have been toying around with my sheet to no avail, though I came up with an idea which I don't know how to do.

Is it possible to make an input field where I type in the license plate, then excel connects to the api and returns the data I need? This would make my life a lot easyier. For example, type plate number in A1, then Excel connects to an online database and returns values in B1, C1 etc. How do get this to work?

I am kind of new to APIs so general information about how they work with Excel is appreciated too
