I'm trying to perform a match and index function. The function worked well if there's only number in the content (i.a 17001,17002). However, if there is letter in the content, for example: 0431101E, 071015D, the function returned error or N/A.
Could you please help address the problem?
You need to provide a whole lot more information.
What is your formula? What data do have in the ranges used in your formula?
It would be most useful to attach your file. Under the text box where you type your reply click the Go Advanced button. On the next screen scroll down and click on Manage Attachments, which will show a pop-up window to Select and Upload a file. Then close the window.
The Index/Match IS working, it's just that you don't like the answer
A MATCH() does exactly what it says on the tin. It's an absolute, no ifs or buts, match (unless you include some wild card character) not a fuzzy match.
However upload the workbook and we'll no doubt see what we can come up with.
