Is there a way to "wildcard" the A2000 portion of the formula =COUNTA(A2:A2000) to allow capture of ever increasing column length A that has occupied cells? Thanks!

Try this:
=COUNTA(A:A)

Thank you gentlemen for the responses. =COUNTA(A:A) is easier (I modified to =(COUNTA(A:A))-1 to exclude header row). But I also wanted to learn about OFFSET and went that path as well. Both do the job and now I know more about different ways to use Excel! Thanks again.
Glad we could help. Thanks for the rep! That was careless of me to forget about the header row.
Just FYI, another way that you can do this would be by formatting your data as a table and referring to the entire table column like this: =COUNTA(Table1[Table Header Name])
The table format approach was slick too! Thanks!
