i have tried a few formulas and wasnt getting exactly what i need
I am wanting a result (a number) in F2 of how many of each animal (B2:B31) was taken from each section (D2:D31).

Post Attachment: Click [Go Advanced] under the reply box; then click [Manage Attachments] to launch the attachments dialogue.
Mark Thread Solved: Go to the top of the first post; Select [Thread Tools] dropdown; Pick the [Mark thread as Solved] option.
No, i plugged that formula into F2 and visually checked/counted more than the result the formula gave for animals in that particular section
i got this to work to some extent
=COUNTIFS(B2:B31,J3,D2:D31,J5) dependent on the selection of two dropdown boxes i added
