help required to populate sheet 2 with a lookup from sheet 1

    Hi

I need a formula that will look at the list of postcodes on sheet 1.

And tell me the name of the rep covering that postcode (row 1 sheet 1)

I would like the sheet 1 to be hidden and sheet 2 to have the query on?

    Please see attached sample.

    Thanks

    Re: List Lookup

how do you choose which postcode is being looked up? In a cell on sheet 2, or what??

    Hi Glenn,

Yes either with a user entering a postcode or a list of postcodes to choose from on sheet 2 ?

With the postcode in result a2,

    =IF(A2="","",INDEX(Data!$A$1:$D$1,SUMPRODUCT((Data!$A$2:$D$4=A2)*COLUMN(Data!$A$2:$D$4))))

    Hi Glenn,

That's great thanks can you extend the formula to include all the data on sheet 1.

    Thanks again for your help.

Did you even try to tweak it yourself? I don't think you should have found it too hard.

    =IF(A2="","",INDEX(Data!$A$1:$D$1,SUMPRODUCT((Data!$A$2:$D$31=A2)*COLUMN(Data!$A$2:$D$31))))

A minor modification - just in case you decide to move the source from column A:

    =IFERROR(INDEX(Data!$A$1:$D$1,SUMPRODUCT((Data!$A$2:$D$31=A2)*(COLUMN(Data!$A$2:$D$17)-COLUMN($A$2)+1))),"")
