No clue about groupings and outlines

So the attached sample book has 3 columns
I want to group by all 3 of them.

So column A is the main, then B then C.
So group A, if you open you get A with all the options in B.
B then again is grouped with all the options in C.

And then I think in the outline should be 1 2 3 so you can open or close directly to a level.
Never know if the group is on rows or columns :s
    Thanks.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by outline 1, 2, 3.

If I understand enough correctly how about a pivot table? Maybe this will give you a start.

In the attached the source data Sheet1 converted to a table.

In Pivot table sheet is what I believe you want.

    Thanks FlameRetired.

Well a pivot table is exactly what I not want

But indeed the outcome should look like it.
However in other columns I need to maintain data.
So the grouping helps to keep the overview.
With a pivot table I cannot maintain data in other fields.

    yes you right

    its just layered sub-totalling
i used COUNT as it is the most useful for texts and wont give errors

just UNCHECK replace current subtotal as you go
