Question Conditional Formatting no longer letting me choose font color

I'm hoping someone can help with this strange issue I'm having. I know how to use conditional formatting, I don't have an issue with that... my problem is that I used to be able to choose the color that I wanted the font to be (format cells) and now every time I choose a color, it just goes right back to "automatic" or black. It used to work just fine, no issues at all then all of a sudden I couldn't do it anymore. Now I have sheets that I need to add to and I cannot match the conditional formatting of my original cells, I can only choose the pre-populated options that are in the drop down menu (if i go to highlight cell rules and choose greater than for instance) such as "light red fill with dark red text", "yellow fill with dark yellow text" and so on... I can't find any kind of setting that would change this, the sheet isn't locked/protected. I'm going crazy, please help!!!!!!!

Save, close and restart Excel. Maybe reboot the machine. Seen a similar problem recently and, from what I recall, restarting Excel (or the machine) fixed it.

Thank you for the suggestion! I have tried that... this has been going on for about a month and I just can't figure it out. It is very frustrating!

Attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

I've seen a similar thread & think that the OP had to run a repair on Xl to fix it.

Have you tried the same workbook on another computer?
If so is it ok on the other m/c?

See if this link helps. About half down the page. Formatting RE: files from earlier versions seems to cause problems.
