getting excel to recognize a complex date and time text as a date value

I have a large data set with a column that contains a date and time value in a single cell. Like this: 2019-01-14 19:57:25 UTC
I want excel to recognized it as a date. Command 1 takes you to cell format and I tried formatting the cell to read this as a date.

I also tried =left(A1,10) to trim off everything but the date. This left me with 2019-01-14 but still excel did not recognize this as a date.

Any ideas as to I can get excel to recognize this value as a date?
