Unhappy Excel 2013 recognized dates as "General"

    Hi, Everyone.

I got my new laptop, from windows 7 to windows 10. II am using excel for a lot of time on my windows 7 pc, but when I changed to Windows 10, my excel is not recognizing my data with dates & time. It is showing that the format is in general. Attached file is the sample excel data.

    Looking for recommendation/solution.

    Thanks,
    mike

    Hi, welcome to the forum.
Before I look at the file have you checked if your system settings international are the same as when you were working with Windows 7?
Recommendation, check review your system settings

They're clearly different. so what do you want us (me) to do for you?
It's YOUR system and EXCEL adapts to YOUR system unless you tell it differently

Can you change it in the "Additional Settings..."?

Re: Excel 2013 recognized dates as "General"

@kersplash in additional settings you can just choose from the list of settings vali for that choice, what you can do however is select it to a region that does offer that option and then check that the other settings like decimals currency etc remain the same.
I did not check if there is another language option for the Philippines, could be another option ?

It looks to me like in additional setting you can override the standard settings rather than pick from the pre-defined ones.

Re: Excel 2013 recognized dates as "General"

I tried but could not manage, my settings are 'messed-up' because the region is the Netherlands but I use the UK settings with US decimal an separator

    Hi, Everyone!

Problem solved, thank you for all your help. I overwrite the format using the additional settings and changed it to the same format of my windows 7 pc. I did not think that this setting will be the cause of the date issue in my excel.
    Appreciated all your replies.

    Thank you,
    Mike
