    Want to add the total times a particular number is entered into cells - Best formula to do

    Hi,
    Can someone please tell me what formula to use to enable me to count up how many time a particular number appears in a selection of cells?
    An example on how to apply it would also help as I have multiple cells to extract the info.

    Please see attached example.

    Cheers all and thanks in anticipation,
    Tony

    Re: What is the best formula to use?

    Try these:

    D14 =COUNTIFS($1:$1,"Code",2:2,1)

    E14 =COUNTIFS($1:$1,"Code",2:2,2)

    Drag both formulas down.

    Into D14:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
    Please Login or Register to view this content.

    accept with Ctrl+Shift+Enter (you should spot that curly brackets {} appear around formula)
    Into E14:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
    Please Login or Register to view this content.

    accept with Ctrl+Shift+Enter (you should spot that curly brackets {} appear around formula)
    and drag both down as needed.

    EDIT:
    63falcondude's formula is faster & simplier (non array), so I recommend it, but I've left mine just as example of possible solution.
