Calculating Isolation panels (Math Problem)

Hello i need some help finding a function for, or a smart way to calcualte some isolation panels for a sloped roof with with an increasing amount of "square" panels.

I know how many columns of panels i will have and the number of panels in any given columns is "Column number ((n-1)x2)" I need to find a way to add all the colmns of together

I attached a picture describing the problem below

After a full day, I am guessing that the rest of the members here are like me -- we don't understand what you are trying to calculate. I expect we will need a more detailed explanation of exactly what you are trying to calculate in order to provide any help.
