    VLOOKUP Not working

I am trying to use a VLOOKUP to bring a value in to sheet 1 to identify if values are in a master list sheet 2. I have uploaded the file. Appreciate knowing why the Vlookup is not working. The common field is MPN_Stripped and there is at least one match that I have highlighted in yellow
    Many thanks for any help

    Re: VLOOKUP Not working

What are you trying to return?
Your lookup table is one column and your vlookup searches values in the 4th column of a one-column tale?

    Re: VLOOKUP Not working

Thanks for interest. I want to use the MPN_Stripped Value in SPIR to find a match in SPD1 (Column 4) and then bring in the Stock No Column 1 .............the item in yellow would be 10225668 against 63142ZC3 Row No 312 (in SPIR)

    Hope this is clear

    Thanks again

    Re: VLOOKUP Not working

Try this in D2 and pull down
    Formula: copy to clipboard
    =INDEX('SPD1'!$A$2:$A$159,MATCH(SPIR!$A2,'SPD1'!$D$2:$D$159,0))

    Re: VLOOKUP Not working

No, VLOOKUP does not perform left lookups ( in fact it does but it needs some tweaking..). INDEX/MATCH is easier and more understandable.

In the future it is best to add some expected results manually to your example sheet so our members can see if they are on track..
