    Can't Link to Other Workbook

Okay, I'm having a weird problem. In Workbook A (4116 Tracker), saved in a folder, I have values in cells. In Workbook B, on my desktop, I want to keep the values from A. I copy cell A1 from Workbook A and paste as a link into A1 of workbook B. The formula shows as "='[4116 Tracker.xlsx]FY21 Manual Payments'!$A$3". However, it doesn't resolve. In other words, it doesn't display the value of A1, just the link formula. Calculation is turned on for both workbooks. When I close Workbook A I expect the formula path to change to reflect the path to the folder, since the source workbook is now closed, but the formula doesn't change.

    What am I doing wrong?
    I know I'm not stupid, but I suspect I'm a lot stupider than I think I am

Re: Can't Link to Other Workbook

Sometimes my denseness amazes me. Formulas don't work when the cells they're in are formatted as text. Duh!
