Trend Arrows Based on Letters of the Alphabet

Hi,

First timer - apologies if this has been asked and answered.

I am looking to see if it is possible to have a formula use trend arrows to show improvement / deterioration (or consistency) between gradings that are denoted by letters, i.e. A -B - C to E.

I am putting together a month on month comparison for work on measured KPI's which I can find loads of "how to's" online as they are numeric, however the overall "end result" is a letter from A to E and I can't find how to apply a formula to see the trend.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. An Excel sheet is worth 1,000 non-editable pictures.

Please read the yellow banner about sample worksheets, at the top of the screen. Act on its guidelines and post a SMALL sample sheet complete with an explanation and some expected results.

You will need to convert the letter values to numbers in an adjacent column and use that for your arrows. As Glenn said, it's best to provide a sample workbook, please.
