    Conditional format project timeline based on milestone in sub task

    Good morning,

    I am trying to find a way to have the milestone that is in a task, reflected in the total project timeline. For example, in the attached, I have the milestone conditional formatted to shade in black; I'd like that to reflect in the appropriate week in the total project timeline. I've not been able to figure out what I need to add in order to do that. Thank you so much!

    Hi - to make sure I understand, are you saying that if Column A has a M you want a cell to be colored black?

    Hello! yes that is correct! I can get it to do that in the task but can't figure out how to get it in the overall project timeline that is above it. (For example I can get it show black in row 10 but not row 7.)

    OK so if I put a M in 7A then H7 to AE7 turn black.

    Try this as the CF formula for row 7

    =SUMPRODUCT(($D$8:$D$200>=H$3)*($E$8:$E$200<=I$3)*($A$8:$A$200="M"))

    Re: Conditional format project timeline based on milestone in sub task

    This is great but have a question. I modified this so that it would only calculate through the current task (versus all). For example, for row 7, I just wanted it to highlight where there is an M in rows 8-24. Doing that eliminated it from highlighting for Ms that are in rows for other programs so that's awesome. However, when I put an M in rows 10 and 11 (weeks 3 and 4), columns I and J (weeks 2 and 3) highlight. So it appears to highlight the cell prior to what matches in column A. Is there a way to fix that? Am I explaining that right?

    Not in the file I sent: columns J and K are highlighted (where there is a 1 in column 6)

    =SUMPRODUCT(($D$8:$D$24>=H$3)*($E$8:$E$24<=I$3)*($A$8:$A$24="M")) in row 6

    will show 1 for weeks 3 and 4
