    Colour change in columns depending on dates

    Hello,

    Can anyone give me some advice on a problem I'm having with excel.

    I have two columns, one with the date an item is clear for collection(H), and the next column the date the item is at the hub(I). I need to have the cell in column I change from green after 2 days, then change to orange after 3 days and then to red after 4 days. Also, if this is possible, once the date has been entered in column I, would the cell be able to go back to white?

    I have tried various formulas from various sites and I have watched plenty of videos, but can't quite get it to work, or if it's even possible, although i will add that I'm far from an expert on excel.

    Thank you.

    Jon

    Welcome to the forum.

    There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook. Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

    A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    I can't upload any form of workbook as my work computer won't let me!!
    What exactly do you mean?

    If the workbook is too big, then read my instructions again to understand what a sample workbook should look like.

    Hi,

    Excel is on my company laptop, and the security on it won't let me upload anything externally. I will try a few workarounds to upload a workbook.

    Are you allowed to post a link to a file-sharing site? If so, you will need to add a couple of SPACES to the URL to be able to post it here.

    @Hesham121

    Administrative Note:

    Please include formulae used in your post in addition to providing a workbook (for the benefit of members unable to download attachments).

    Thanks.

    Re: Colour change in columns depending on dates

    Thank you Hesham121. That worked!!!

    The white colour Rule type: Format only cells that contain
    and in rule description: Format only Cells with No Blanks(in drop down box)

    The below Rule type: Use a formula to determine which cells to format

    =TODAY()-$B3=1 Green colour

    =TODAY()-$B3=2 Orange colour

    =TODAY()-$B3>=4 Red colour

    That's the formula Hesham121 used.

    Thanks both for your help.

    Hi,

    I know this is solved, but I have one question, is it possible to add to this formula to take into account weekends?

    Thanks,

    Jon
