Question Compare different hour format values from AMOS

    • I am using AMOS to compare pre and post activation effects on aircraft hours.
    • In attached A1 is an hour value which AMOS outputs formatted as number before activation.
    • After activation, B1 is showing the same hour value. I have 22000+ values to compare, so wanted to use TRUE/FALSE = statement
    • However since the numbers are formatted differently it doesn't return a TRUE.
    • Anyway I can work around this?

Instead of one example give more 5 to 6 example.
As per your one example "C1" =IF(A1=B1,"true","false")

    1. 6 more examples attached as requested.
    2. =IF(A1=B1,"true","false") will return same result as currently used formula A1=B1.
    3. I believe the solution will involved formatting or rounding change.

Is it column "A" always number format & "B" always date time format or only date or only time

Re: Compare different hour format values from AMOS

Unless we understand the "calculation" of entry in A there is no way of comparing with B.

B as a number (or TEXT) will never match A.
If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED.

Is it column "A" always number format - Yes
B" always date time format or only date or only time - Always Format: [h]:mm;@ and will always be hours.

The AMOS Maintenance Information System outputs A in the format, there's no calculation in excel to reach the value.

Re: Compare different hour format values from AMOS

My current workaround is replacing everything after : in A and then adding 1, then using ROUND(B*24,1) which produces a match, but it seems crude.

Re: Compare different hour format values from AMOS

    Hi,
in column B you have something very strange to me "7/12/1904 6:09:00 PM" and the column A contain only text. The format cell doesn't matter. It will never change a text in value(number, date or whatever).
    So, question:
Are both columns imported or generated by an external software?
