Question Drop down menus with restrictions

I want to create 2 drop down menus (I know how to create a simple drop down based on lists) but for the 2nd drop down to have limited information based on the first drop down result e.g. 1st drop down Country, UK, Spain, France, Australia, but based on the Country only allow the areas within the Country to appear, UK = Cambridge, Suffolk, but not include Paris because Paris isn't a region of the UK - Google isn't helping. Does anyone know how I could create this please?

Re: Drop down menus with restrictions

You want a Dynamic Drop Down List.
This comes from Named Ranges, based on the options in the first list, you want to create a named range with the options. So that you can type =INDIRECT(A2) in your Data Validation for your second list. if the first drop down list was in A2 and then the named range will be selected as the second dropdown list.

If you need more information than that, upload the workbook with which you are working and I can go further into detail on a tutorial how to do this.

Re: Drop down menus with restrictions

I created an example sheet of what can be done.
Though this is just guessing without an example sheet presented.

    EDIT:
Also I was wrong in the tutorial, you could take out the "IF" statement by just naming the Range "UK", I didn't realize it would accept such a short name.
    It does.
    I learned something new.
