Index Match from Two Columns - Issue

I would like to match two columns and return a third.

I am pulling my hair out wondering why I can't obtain the result I want. I am extremely confident that the formula is correct but can't get the desired result. PLEASE HELP!

I have highlighted the result rows (yellow) and result cell (red). The formula required is highlighted (green).

    Many thanks,

    Danny

    Try:

    =INDEX($J7:$J50,MATCH(1,(B7:B50=Q11)*($P$7:$P$50=R11),0))

Re: Index Match from Two Columns - Issue

    Hi Glenn,

    Thank you for your help!

When I transfer this formula back to my main workbook it is still returning an error. Are there times where excel reads certain cells in a different format or something else which is preventing this from working?

    Much obliged.

    Danny

Re: Index Match from Two Columns - Issue

It seems the issue was related to column P being in the wrong format. I added NUMBERVALUE to the formula which converted these into the correct format for the search and returned the correct result.

Have you any advice for how spot this issue quickly?

    Danny

Re: Index Match from Two Columns - Issue

If you remove any alignment in the cells and they align to the left... they are stored as text.

Either do as you describes, use $P$7:$P$50+0 or use data/text to columns/finish to fix.

    You're welcome.
