    Index and match not working

    hi,

    I have 2 sheets 1. LR_CNF and 2. Summary

LR_CNF sheet has container-wise loading data and we put BL no. against each container as
they sail and BL is issued.

in the Summary Sheet, UNDER BL STATUS we intent to summarize BL only. if BL Coloumn is blank it should not be
    populated

the formula used was working initially and now it stopped and not pulling the BL nos after more
containeers are inserted in this sheet.

Kindly help is sorting the mistake if any in the formula or else advise.

    Thanks
    Ranbir

Re: Index and match not working

The first few entries on LR_CNF are blank. That seems to be causing the problem. Is that to be expected? If I put some random values in there, the table populates as (I assume) it should.

Re: Index and match not working

    Hi,

Thanks John and TMS for pointing the reason.

now comes another issue, it's working either for text or number not for both the cases... its working only for the number or text whichever is coming first.

eg. if text comes first ...numeric values are not coming and vice-versa.

Please suggest if there is any other or alternate way to do the same.

    Thanks

Which version of Excel are you using?

Your thread title should tell us what you are trying to do, NOT that something isn't working. Please remember this in future.
