Show left chars of xlookup result with conditions on return result

I have the following 3 values returned from xlookup and I'd like to display char on the lookup result

    Yes - All locations - LEFT, 3
    No - No locations - LEFT, 2
No response - show this value

I was able to do a nested IF to get the desire result. I wondering if there is a better/simpler/cleaner way.

    Here's a slightly shorter version:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Thanks for these. I'll try them out and then try to learn why they work.
