    Dynamically autopopulate a table

    Hello excel family,

I have a challenge i need resolved, i an trying to come up with an excel sheet where when a user posts data on the first tab named data sheet, it should automatically or dynamically update in the second tab named dynamic table. Reason being is the data is being downloaded from a database which i want to be pasted directly into this excel sheet without being altered. The data being pasted will not be of equal rows(it might have between 1 to 5000 rows) and the key information is in the A column of the data sheet.
in the dynamic table sheet, i want it to auto populate whether there are 3 rows or there are 3000 rows.

    Re: Dynamically autopopulate a table

    Hello.

It would be interesting if you could manually insert a few more sample results as expected, so we know we are going in the right path.

For example, maybe you want unique years listed and the sum of respective values next to each year.

Whatever the outcome you are trying to achieve, please do a mock-up of expected results.

    Hey Estevaoba,

Thanks for the reply, i hope the attached sample will assist. i just basically want a formula that can auto-populate or replicate what is on the first tab onto the second tab. This way i can hide the second tab and reference the data populated to further solve other issues. The only challenge is the format of the data set being pasted from the database is weird formatted (CONTAINS CELL MERGES) and i want users to be pasting the exact data set extracted without changing anything.

    Re: Dynamically autopopulate a table

    Hi. Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately, the formula I have come up with will not work in a table.

So, if you can convert that table back into a range, please delete all the values you have manually entered from A2 down and try this in A2 and it will spill down:

    Good luck!

You can easily do what you want using Power Query.
The trick is to import as if it is another workbook and not an internal table, if done so it will transform the range in 'ACCOUNT STATEMENT' into an Excel Table separating merged cells.
Power Query is a native feature of Excel.
