    Conditional formatting a cell based on todays date, less 5 days.

    Hi,

    I have a project starting on a particular date, lets say 15/3/24. I have put this date in cell A1.

    I must complete a task relating to this 5 days or less before the project starts. I have put this date in cell B1 via a formula (=A1=5)

    If todays date is 5 days or more away from the date in A1 (so in this example, 10/3/24 or any date before this), I want to use conditional formatting to turn cell B1 red (so I can basically open the spreadsheet and go 'oh cr*p, I should have done this by now!)

    Can anyone help with this? I've tried googling, and can see examples of similar things, but I keep getting things mixed up in my brain and would really appreciate it if someone could just write out the formula specific to the information above.

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forum.

    I presume you mean =A1-5, not =A1=5?

    CF for B1 (I think, based on your slightly confusing description) should be:

    =TODAY()>=B1

    Give it a try.

    Hi Ali,

    Thanks for coming back to me on this so quickly.

    Apologies for the error, I did indeed mean a minus rather than an equals. Serves me right for trying to sort this whilst on a teams meeting!

    That works - I've been a complete idiot and massively overcomplicated and overthought it!

    Thank you again!
