    Drop Down List Items

    Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if there is another topic the same as mine but i could not find it, that's why i am writing this.

I have a drop down list in cell E1 containing 4 items from columns A1,B1,C1,D1 and in cell E2 another 4 items from columns A2,B2,C2,D2.

I need to create a formula in cell E3 so when i select a specific number from Cell E1, the result in Cell E3 must be the corresponding form Cell E2

    CELL E1 CELL E2
    A1 A2
    B1 B2
    C1 C2
    D1 D2

    CELL E3
If i select A1 in cell E1, the result to be shown must be A2
If i select A2 in cell E1, the result to be shown must be B2 and so on

i hope i am not confusing you because i am too confused my self :P

    Thank you in advance

    Regards

    Chris

    Re: Drop Down List Items

Maybe? (Still not sure what E2 has to do with all this, and why A2 is a valid entry in E1...) Maybe add a small workbook to your post....

Something along the lines of this might work.

    =INDEX(A2:D2,MATCH(E1,A1:D1,False))

    Re: Drop Down List Items

Good morning Bernie and thank you for your reply.

I am attaching an excel file with a sample of what i need.

Basically E1 is the Data Validation of A1:A4. When i select in E1 one of the 4 entries, in cell E2 must be shown the corresponding number from B1:B4

    for example

Ιf i select €50,000,- in E1 the corresponding in E2 must be €50,-
Ιf i select €100,000,- in E1 the corresponding in E2 must be €100,- and so on.

I hope this one is more clear.

    Re: Drop Down List Items

    Try this:

    =INDEX($B$1:$B$4,MATCH(E1,$A$1:$A$4,0))

    Administrative Note:

Is your forum profile showing the Excel PRODUCT that you need this to work for?

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the Office PRODUCT (Excel, NOT Windows) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect. If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your product is for Mac, please also state this.

The three most recent Excel products are Excel 2019, Excel 2021 and MS365 - if you are using MS365, please give this name along with the version number in your profile (e.g. MS365 Version 2306). This is in the About Excel section further down the Account page.

    Thanks.

No problem here. Did you change commas to semi-colons for your locale?

Thanks for the rep, but your profile still says Excel 2003 - is that REALLY what you are using now?
