Using Column Headings in formulas - is it possible

Hi I have a sheet that the user paste's each week's appointments into, however each centre has a slightly different layout, I want the user to paste the data into the sheet and have calculation cells to the right of the data calculate the number of days since last appointment, however not all the centres sheets are the same the information is basically the same but the column headings may be for one centre NAME, AGE, APPOINTMENT TIME etc. and another it may be NAME APPOINTMENT TIME AGE and so on.

I need execl to reference the column headers from the pasted info as the start point to find the information.

    Is there a way?

    Look at INDEX/MATCH/MATCH

Yes, but you have to tell us or show us what type of formula you're using/trying to create.

In general, you'd use an INDEX/MATCH expression to find the column of interest.

    Ok I got it now.
It would be very tricky or maybe impossible with formula
(but Tony can do miracles with formulas).
I think VBA will be your answer.

The tables on the left are all the same data but not in the same order.

Can you put the results you expect into the table on the right?
