Newbie help with simple % formula please

Hi.

I want to get a simple percentage of numbers.

There are 2 numbers in the spreadsheet, and I want to see what % of the total each # represents.

A1 + B1 = X

A1 / X = %

How do I represent that formula?

Format the cell containing the answer to a percentage.

if you want a % of the total, do it like this:

A1= number 1
B1= number 2
C1= total (in excel, do forumla =A1+B1)
S1= percentage (in excel, do formula =A1/C1)

then format the cell into percentage format
