Novice stuck again

Hi
am stuck again on the following

want to set sheet so that when cat is typed into a cell in column A a return of 2.5 is returned in the cell next to it, but if dog is entered then 3.5 appears in cell next to it and so on.
Sorry if it's not explained that well/
have been tryin if formula but no joy
