Look Up customer information based on dates

I'm still having trouble with this formula. I have a sheet, sample attached, that has a list of transactions, with customer name, date, cash-in & cash-out information that is listed down a set of rows. I'll have a tab for each year & the information will be seperated by months.

My other sheet is a monthly report that I will be printing. I have a seperate "section" for each customer & I want excel to fill the information from that customer based on the month. I tried using a index match formula & a vlookup formula in a helper column, but it doesn't bring out the info that I want.

I know the required formula is way over my head & I certainly appreciate any help.

    Try this in B6:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
adjust ranges from main sheet to suit. Confirm with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER and copy down and across the 3 columns.

Then select B6 and copy the formula from the Formula Bar and paste it in F6.

Change occurrances of B4 to F4 in the formula, reconfirm with CSE keys, copy down and across...

    Then repeat for each table.

You may have to format the date columns to see actual dates...
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Look Up customer information based on dates

Thanks NBVC, but I want it to only pull the information for the month specified in C2 on the monthly report tab.

    I print these reports monthly.

I think that if I use your formula in a helper table, then I can seperate the information based on customer, then devise a lookup formula for my print sections based on the helper table, right? I think I can figure that out, but is there a formula that converts "December" into 12/1/08. I guess since I only need it for December '08, I could convert it & add "-365' to the formula, right? I went through the date functions and couldn't find one that worked, but I probably missed something.

Thanks again & I really appreciate the time that you've spent with me, I've learned quite a bit in the last 2 weeks...for example, 2 weeks ago, I wouldn't have known how to combine an index & match or a vlookup for anything.

For my future reference, if you get a minute, can you please explain the function? Specifically, the reddened areas. I'd like to be able to do this myself someday.
