    CountIF formula not working?

    Hey guys,

So I have this Excel spread sheet in which I have the numbers 1-50 listed in the columns A1:A50 respectively. What I'm trying to figure out now is how I could figure out which numbers contain the number "1" and how many of those numbers there are. So far, the formula I've tried is =COUNTIF((A1:A50),"*1*") but that doesn't seem to be working since I'm getting an answer of 0. It's been a while since I worked with formulas like these so obviously I'm a bit rusty in utilizing these formulas. My question, what formula would give me the number of number that contain the number "1?" Any and all help is always appreciated! Thanks in advance.

hi snrpatel10, welcome to the forum. when you place the double quotes, i guess you are already restricting it to finding a text, not a number. try this instead:
    =SUMPRODUCT(--(ISNUMBER(FIND("1",TEXT(A1:A50,0)))))

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.
