convert cell that looks like date to an actual date

I have a number of cells that are formatted as text and are as follow:

    1-SEP-2014
    15-MAR-2009
    1-JUL-2018
    12-SEP-2022
    3-JAN-2009
    22-JUL-2018

I've been trying to format cells as date but no luck. Is there a quick formula I could use to convert these cells to mm/dd/yyyy format? Thanks

hi maacmaac. select the data & go to Data-> Text to Columns -> Delimited -> Next -> Next -> Date: DMY
then format to what you need

to do a formula on another column, simply:
    =A1+0
    format the cells

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

    This worked for me...

Select the range of cells in question
    Goto Data>Text to Columns
    Click Next twice
In Step 3 of the userform, under Column data format, select Date.
From the drop down list select DMY
    Click Finish

Then, format the dates in the date format of your choice.

I used to like to explain how formulas work but not so much any more due to the amount of time it takes me to type that all out!
