# Calculate a score

1. ## Calculate a score

Hi,

I have a checklist that will have about 100 stores listed. (The attached example only has two)
Basically there are 5 things that will be physically checked in each store labeled S.1, S.2, etc. However not all stores are applicable for some of these checks. In my attached example S.3 has a NA in it for the first store as they don't require a mark for that.

Now, what I want is a formula that will recognise what each stores score will be. The first store for example will have a score out of 4 and the second store will have a score out of 5. They will receive a mark of 1 for a pass and 0 for a fail.
So is there a way to get excel to automatically put what the score will be out of? I have highlighted the cells in question yellow.

Hope that makes sense...

try this in K4:
=COUNT(D4:H4)

this works too:
=COUNTIF(D4:H4,"<>NA")
