    Return the highest number from more than 30 fields

    Sample Data Entry Form attached.
    In column BS I am trying to determine the single highest number (MAX) that occurs in that row for volunteers.
    In column BV I am trying to determine the single highest number (MAX) that occurs in that row for offenders.

    Same for column BO, rows 186 and 189. That column is looking for the (MAX) for that particular day.

    You've all been most helpful in the past and I hope you can come through for me again...

    Re: Return the highest number from more than 30 fields

    Try this in BS3;

    =MAX(IF(D$2:BM$2="Volunteers",D3:BM3))

    ...confirmed by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to activate the array. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer. Press F2 on that cell and try again.

    and copy down.

    Change "offenders" instead of "Volunteers" in BV3.

    hi DWSchuetz. another alternative. for BS3:
    =SUMPRODUCT(MAX(($D$2:$BM$2="Volunteers")*$D3:$BM3))

    change it to "Offender" for BV3.

    Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.
