count multiple criteria entries in a sheet

Hi to all.

First apologies if similar or same problem has been posted but I don't discover it.

I have problem to find appropriate formula to count multiplle entries using just two criteria. For ex.:

- In column D there are dates - almost every working days,
- In column J there are entries - document inputs -names of documents
- On other sheet I count inputs from column J but only for a certain month (January, Feb,....)

On other sheetI need exact number of inputs in certain month without duplicates.

I should count in a table on the sheet two: are there answers to the particular input for a certain month having in mine that same inputs are sent to different departments

Thanks, it helped, but one more thing. At the end of formula I should put command to AVOID DUPLICATION.

What is a command to avoid duplication from column B??

The result on the sheet 2 should be for January 19 instead of 18, because there are 19 inputs, and 4 for January, which is not shown on sheet 2.

The main question is number of inputs in column J without duplication in particular month.
