unique occurances per multiple criteria (including month/year)

Hello all,

trying to find unique occurances for multiple criteria broken down per month/year.

i have attached a file with some dummy data. i colored some data cells to help with identify what comprises the results. Hopefully this makes sense. Would really appreciate some help.

In F3 enter

Call this new column say, " Freq"

Click in the table - Insert - Pivot Table - Use dates as row labels and CP as column labels - Freq as data ( using sum as field setting function)
Now right click in the date field - Group - Click months - Done

is there anyway to do this without a pivot table?

this needs to be all automatically done since non-excel people will randomly open it and look for data.

I don't understand what you mean. When one opens the sheet the PT refreshes
